At LPP we help HIV + women get back on their feet by teaching them valuable skills such as knitting, tailoring, candle making and bead working. The women come from Monday-Friday and learn these skills so that when they leave the class they can provide a source of income for their families. Most of the women are the sole breadwinners of the family so these skills are a creating a sustainable way of life for women and their families.
Currently we are making valentines day candles. We are trying to sell them to markets around Ngong. We had an order for 40 candles from an American couple, we had a tight deadline of two days. BUT we DID IT!
We are also making wedding cards for a Canadian couple...we have to make 1500 of these cards in a month and a half. Wish us luck we are going to need it ha!
A new skill that we have started teaching at LP is knitting! These women are sure fast at knitting and are very patient when we try to learn! We have made quite a few since that start of Feb.
Asante!
Tarin and Aurora
